Baby care. Painting of a paediatric doctor (at left) attending a number of mothers and their babies at a clinic during the 19th century. The death-rate amongst young children from disease was high before the introduction of immunisation, antibiotics and hygienic living conditions. Picture painted in France by Jose Frappa.
